Website Compliance and Accessibility Standards
Ensuring websites are making continuous accessibility improvements
JK Property Consulting, Inc. is committed to improving access to online resources for all. We are continually learning new ways to improve access.
A commitment to equal access for all
We are committed to learning and understanding various standards such a WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, and ADA compliance. JK Property Consulting, Inc. is not an expert in creating fully compliant websites, but we are taking active steps to improve compliance with standards across all new websites and content we develop.
How does this affect your business?
By commiting to working with a web developer that is committed to improving access for all, you are showing the public you are on the leading edge of where all website, application, and online content will eventually be mandated to comply. No matter who you serve, making content as easy as possible for all walks of life to access can increase your market exposure and open up your business to interactions with new customer segments.
Additionally, employing accessible content techniques into your website from the start can improve search engine optimization, streamline the design and interactivity of your website, and lead to overall better brand awareness.
How do we work towards WCAG 2.1 AA or better?
We employ automated scanning tools when developing a website and attempt to correct as many issues as possible, if any arise. Given the lag in template designers supporting WCAG 2.1 AA out of the box, this may not be technically feasible for all designs and budgets at this time. We are closely watching Joomla! 4.0 development, and various third party template designers as accessibility becomes more integrated into the core of this type of business.
Across all websites, we are striving to meet basic accessibility initiatives, including, but not limited to:
- Providing alternative text tag for non-text media
- Keyboard accessibility for navigation and content
- Content that does not flash
- Navigable links and pages, and easily determined link content
- Input operable by a point gesture vs. a multipoint gesture
We are working towards improving the accessibility of content with both the use of improved development methods and with the aid of third party tools, such as accessIBe accessWidget.
Feedback or complaints on websites developed by us
As we have mentioned, working towards improving accessibility for all is a continuous process, and we are committed to doing the best we can to make content accessible. If you have a comment or complaint regarding content on a website we manage, please email [email protected] with your contact information, a description of issues encountered, and a link to the affected web-pages. Reasonable efforts will be made to improve the content, in concert with the website owner.
Please note that JK Property Consulting, Inc. cannot be held responsible for the content on websites we've created for clients. However, we will make all commercially reasonable efforts to work with the website owner to improve their content.
